QA Engineer @ POGO / EA Games

After PlayStation, Jeff joined up with EA games in their POGO studio in their Redwood Shores campus. Jeff was responsible for maintaining tests and running regressions before and after deployments for POGO's library of online casual games.

While at POGO, Jeff designed concepts using his game development skills that developers later used to improve games.

Duties Performed

Testing

The primary function for the role was to complete regression testing for POGO's library of online casual games. This required thoughtful and consistent execution of manual test cases. Bugs were reported in EA's internal software.

Collaboration

Working with other testers and developers was crucial, as Jeff had to time testing with deploys and give estimates to ensure timely releases. Jeffrey was also involved in ideation meetings.

Concept Work

When Jeff saw a game that could be better, he would go home and build a better version and demo it to staff. He was also closely involved with the game designers and attended and participated in ideation meetings.

Tools Used

EA did not use JIRA at the time, and everything was tracked internally on their custom software. Regression tests were also stored in an internal tool. Windows PCs were used for testing, along with Macs for browser compatibility.
